Biography

At the age of ten she was already hailed by critics as ‘a master with a bow’ and ‘big talent - young age’. Greek violinist Angelina Georgiadi has since gained recognition as a passionate and poetic artist, merging her cultural heritage from the Caucasus with her upbringing in Thessaloniki.

After her successful debut at nine years old with orchestra and winning the first prize at the Panhellenic Student Musical Competition in 2001 and 2002 she continued her instrumental education at the prestigious Gnessin College in Moscow, where she was trained according to the great Russian tradition of violin playing. After obtaining her diploma with honours, she pursued her master degree at the Music University of the City of Vienna in the class of Lidia Baich.

Angelina has appeared as soloist, recitalist and chamber musician through all European countries, most notably Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Sweden. She also extensively toured various Russian cities such as Moscow, Tula, Vladikavkaz and Piatigorsk in such prestigious venues like the Moscow International Performing Arts Centre, Dom Muziki and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. In Europe she performs regularly in the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, Brucknerhaus Linz, Musikverein Vienna, the Gasteig in Munich or the ORF Radiokulturhaus. Since 2011 she has been appointed concertmaster of the Orpheus Kammerorchester Wien under the direction of Konstantinos Diminakis. Together with pianist and duo partner Ineke Hellingman, she hosts the Euphonia Art Nights in Vienna, a series of multidisciplinary concerts.

She also received artistic guidance from various great artists in masterclasses such as Zakhar Bron, Pavel Vernikov, Mario Hossen and Sergei Kravchenko. Memorable collaborations include performances with legendary conductors like Jean-Bernard Pommier, Dennis Russel Davies, Toshiyuki Shimada and Thomas Kerbl.

Angelina Georgiadi is a recipient of the prestigious State Scholarships (IKY) Grant as well as the Aikaterini Laskaridi Foundation Award.
